General description: IfADo investigates potentials and risks of modern work. The main research goals of the Institute are to support and improve physical and mental performance, evaluate work-related strain, and assess individual and situational vulnerability. The research group "Modern Human-Machine Systems", which will host the PhD student of the ITN, applies current theoretical concepts and methodologies from the domains of cognitive psychology, psychophysiology and cognitive ergonomics to study attention- and action-related processes in the context of modern working environments. One main focus of our basic and applied research is to investigate information processing abilities of different age groups in virtual and real 3D space, and then to transfer any gained knowledge to applied contexts, such as interacting with ADAS during driving.

Roles in the ITN: Supervise and train a PhD student who will work on age-related differences in adaptation to ADAS with practice (using behavioural and electrophysiological measures) / Taking part in the training program. / Responsible for ethical issues.
